Bumper Cars

A remember quite clearly going to the amusement park with my father when I was child. Because my parents were divorced, we only saw our father two weekends out of the month. Sometimes he would run out of ideas for things to do with us, so we spent a lot of time traveling around going to see different things. One of our favorite activities was visiting amusement parks, and there were quite a few different parks for us to visit near where we live. Though I enjoyed many of the rides that were there, I always made sure I rode the bumper cars at least twice.

The best things about bumper cars is that almost anyone can ride them. You don’t want to take your two-year-old on the bumper cars of course, but many children that are older can go on with their parents. Sometimes the bumper cars can be too violent for younger children, and that will be a choice you will have to make on your own. If you aren’t sure, take some time to watch the ride a few times before you get in line with your small child. For the most part, the park will have rules about who can and cannot get on the ride, and this will make your decision for you.

One thing to remember about bumper cars is that there is a chance for neck injury. This is why you should never ever take an infant on this type of ride with you. This may seem like common sense to most of us, but I have heard of some parents who try to get their infants on the bumper cars. They even argued with the attendant at the ride when they were denied entry. I’m not sure if they had never been on bumper cars before, or if perhaps they could not ride if they did not take their child with them. This is one time when you realize there are some sacrifices you must make as a parent, and this is indeed one of them.

If you aren’t sure if your children should be riding the bumper cars, you can talk to the attendant at the gate. You may run into a case when an attendant is not sure what to tell you, but for the most part they will know if your child is old enough and strong enough to handle the ride on their own, or if they should ride in a car with you. I know that my dad loved to ride in the same car with us until we were just too big for him to do so. After that it became a matter of survival when we rode the bumper cars, as you could always count on my dad coming up behind you and giving you the bump of your life.
