Why Should I Make a Budget?

May 5th, 2008 admin

You say you know where your money goes and you dont need it all written down to keep up with it? I issue you this challenge. Keep track of every penny you spend for one month and I do mean every penny.

You will be shocked at what the itty-bitty expenses add up to. Take the total you spent on just one unnecessary item for the month, multiply it by 12 for months in a year and multiply the result by 5 to represent 5 years.

That is how much you could have saved AND drawn interest on in just five years. That, my friend, is the very reason all of us need a budget.

If we can get control of the small expenses that really dont matter to the overall scheme of our lives, we can enjoy financial success.

The little things really do count. Cutting what you spend on lunch from five dollars a day to three dollars a day on every work day in a five day work week saves $10 a week $40 a month $480 a year $2400 in five years.plus interest.

See what I mean it really IS the little things and you still eat lunch everyday AND that was only one place to save money in your daily living without doing without one thing you really need. There are a lot of places to cut expenses if you look for them.

Set some specific long term and short term goals. There are no wrong answers here. If its important to you, then its important period.

If you want to be able to make a down payment on a house, start a college fund for your kids, buy a sports car, take a vacation to Aruba anything then that is your goal and your reason to get a handle on your financial situation now.

Water Sports - Surfing

May 1st, 2008 admin

Surfing is a kind of water sports where the surfer is carried along by a breaking wave towards the shore. Apart from surfboards body boards, kneeboards, surf skis and kayaks can be also used to surf. Various sports involving surfing are sea kayaking, paddle boarding, kite surfing and windsurfing. The first two do not require waves and winds, while the other two does. Surfing has become more of a profession by turning into a multi-billion dollar industry.

Initially the sport began when people used to lie down on hard wood boards and surf in Hawaii. Lieutenant James King who wrote journals on Captain Cook and completed them after his death set the first record. The surfboards were made out of huge and heavy wood, which were difficult to maneuver. They were substituted by lighter balsa wood surfboards in 1940s and were relatively easy to maneuver by the surfer. The boards were later made out of polyurethane foam, polyester resin and fiberglass cloth with multiple layers of wooden strips. The latest technology in surfboards now is the epoxy or carbon fiber surfboard. To surf in colder regions, its advisable to wear wetsuits, boots, gloves and hood to protect from cold-water temperatures, which can sometimes lead to hypothermia. There are different styles of boards like egg or the long board style short board, fish or short and wide board with a split tail and gun with a long pointed board meant for big waves.

What to Look for In Microwave Range Hoods

February 19th, 2008 admin

A built in microwave and range hood can be a valuable addition to your kitchen and stovetop space. Whether you are looking for a way to redesign your galley kitchen, or simply need to save some space in your house or condo, a microwave range hood can be a valuable investment for your kitchen area.

The key reasons to install a microwave range hood are to remove air pollutants and toxins, and eliminate odors while cooking. Depending on the brand and manufacturer you select, you’ll be making use of vented air flow systems and front vent grilles. These differ considerably from standard oven range hoods in size and scope. Along with the power of your microwave oven, the air that is circulated in from the vents can be a powerful addition to your kitchen to maintain cleanliness and freshness.

Choosing the right ventilation system for your microwave range hood will bring you efficiency, style, and purpose. The most efficient hoods are actually wall or chimney range hoods, but a microwave vent can be very aesthetically appealing. If you need a functional and efficient system, a microwave range hood can take care of particles, dust, and grease with ease.

Wicker furniture is a staple for many different types of homes. This kind of furnishing is unique in that it suits a vast variety of styles and designs. Whether you live in a modern dwelling or a rustic home, wicker furniture is the ideal addition to your space.

The reason that wicker furniture is suitable for so many different types of homes is its versatile nature. The woven design is ideal for adding texture to any space and the natural material is warm and inviting. Wicker furniture offers the perfect combination of form and function.

A cottage home is the ideal spot for this kind of casual furnishing. I almost expect to find wicker furniture in a quaint little cottage style home. The relaxed feel and intricate texture of the woven chairs and tables is wonderful for this modest house design. Bringing this element into the cottage dwelling is the best way to complete the warm and inviting feel that you have when entering this kind of home.

Not all wicker furniture is so quaint. Majestic Victorian homes are often adorned with this woven furnishing. The natural wicker material is typically covered with a crisp, white paint. The tables are commonly embellished with a charming fabric that boasts an attractive but understated design.

Paper Masks

February 5th, 2008 admin

Every year we celebrate. I don’t think I can even name all the holidays we take notice of anymore. Someone would have to provide me with a calendar first. On the other hand, I definitely can name the few that really count. First and foremost on that list is Halloween. Now, I don’t want to hear and rambling about Christmas and the season of giving. That spirit dwindled out long ago. Folks are now mostly concerned about what they’re going to receive. But, on Halloween there are no gifts. Just oodles of candy and a vast array of costumes. There’s no doubt you’ll rack-up on the candy if you hit-up a decent sub-division. And as far as the costumes go, anything is acceptable; and I do mean anything. I’ve seen it all from home-made paper masks, to high-tech Darth Vader get-ups, to life-size walking Smurfs. This is everyone’s day to be whom ever they wish to be.

Halloween has always been my personal favorite. There’s just something about dressing up and pretending you’re someone or something else for a day or evening. It’s a definite escapism. I can remember back when I was a small child and my parents made our Halloween costumes. I’m talking homemade paper masks and body make-up. My mother actually wrapped my little brother up in toilet paper when he was only four years old. She did the torso and each limb separately so that it looked real. By the time she was finished, the kid looked like a mini-mummy. He even had the black make-up around his eyes for a morbid effect. I on the other hand had my father construct me paper masks. That year he made me one that resembled Leather Face quite well. I wanted to go as the character I was most afraid of. Even though I hadn’t seen the film, the trailer scared me plenty.

Home Central Air Conditioners

February 4th, 2008 admin

Home central air conditioners are cooling systems that are permanently installed in buildings such as houses. This air conditioning system uses ducts or pipes to distribute the cool air to the various rooms in the home or building. Typical home central air conditioners are split systems with the condenser and compressor housed in a unit outdoors. The evaporator is contained within the unit which disburses the air, often an air furnace with fan force is used to accommodate home central air conditioners.

Most new built homes are done so with home central air conditioners. This is especially true in larger towns and cities, as well as in areas where heat tends to pose problems for homeowners. Home central air conditioners have advantages over portable home air conditioners. One great advantage is home central air conditioners clean the air in the house. The process of cooling the home requires the air to be drawn into the pipes or ducts from the various parts of the home, taken through a filter and back to the air handling center where the clean cool air is re-routed back to the different parts of the house. Another advantage of home central air conditioners is the minimal noise it produces. Because the condenser and compressor are located outside the house, these air conditioners are less noisy than portable home air conditioning systems.
