Choosing The Right Allergy Medicines For Your Life

November 22nd, 2009 admin

If you suffer from any type of allergy, your doctor will tell you what they think will help you with your symptoms and may also give you tips on how to avoid having problems. If you have seasonal allergies, you may have much of your care in your own hands. What you want to take will depend on what time of year you feel the worst, what you are allergic to (if you know), and also how you react to different types of medications. Many with seasonal allergies take over the counter allergy medicines and it may take some experimentation to find the one that works the best for you.

The problem with some types of allergy medicines is that they can make you drowsy. However, that is not always the case with everyone taking the same medication. That is when things get confusing. Someone may say that they take something and suggest that you try it, only to find that you do not tolerate the side effects as well as they do. If the allergy medicines they take do not make them drowsy, it does not mean that the same ones will not do that for you. Try something, but make sure you are not doing anything that could be dangerous (like driving) until you see how you react.

Being drowsy from allergy medicines is not the only thing you have to consider. Some medications that work well for one person will not work for others. Some medicines have had to take out certain ingredients to stay as over the counter medications, and when they did this, these medication suddenly lost some potency for some people while others got the same great benefits. Try the over the counter version but remember you may have to get the other version through the pharmacy (but without prescription) to truly find the version that works well for you.

In order to decide if your allergy medicines are working well or not, you have to keep track of your symptoms. For some with seasonal allergies, they have sneezing fits first thing in the morning. An effective medication can help eliminate that problem. You can also get an air filter in your sleeping area to help with this as well. That, in combination with your allergy medicines, can help you wake up clear and sneeze free. If the same medicines stop watering eyes and sneezing throughout the rest of the day, you may have found something you can rely on.

You will not have to take your allergy medicines throughout the entire year if you have seasonal allergies, but you may want to have your medication on hand no matter what. Some have bad spells during spring and summer, and some have a worse time in summer and fall. Those with summer problems can find some problems in the dead of winter as well. It depends on the particular allergies someone has and when those things are at their peek. If you are not sure what you are allergic too, keep your effective allergy medicines on hand all year long and take as needed.

Can It Be Possible That Everyday Chemical Cleaning Products Can Be Causing Headaches And Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura Among The People Using Them

February 6th, 2009 fts2009

Can cleaning your house give you a headache, and possibly be the cause of your ITP and low platelet count?

Or to phrase it differently, what does house cleaning and Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura share?

Well, I’m quite sure that the first idea that one probably thinks of is that house cleaning is enough to give everybody a migraine and get their blood boiling. Don’t we all just hate house cleaning? Just the sheer idea of cleaning anything will send some people to the psych ward, but it possibly could be the cause of ITP? What a thought!

Imagine a whole 8 hours of cleaning. We begin inside the bathroom, we break out the Lysol and Tilex. That should do it. Oh forgot the ammonia just for increased disinfection. Then move on to the kitchen…. bleach wipes, oven cleaner, Cascade powder. Then some grout cleaner. The house is cleaner already. sliding over to the living room, the carpets need to be steamed with that delicious smelling chemical and the windows washed. Windex and carpet cleaning liquid should do the trick. Oh that’s right, go back and polish the furniture and woodwork. Where’s that Pledge? Boy what a cleaning machine you are!

Wow! Doesn’t your house look great? Now for your much deserved break. Oh God, you have a terrible migraine flaring up. And you are feeling so tired. You’re just plain dead tired.

No wonder you procrastinate when it comes to cleaning your home. Every time you clean you wear yourself to the core and find yourself reaching for the Tylenol for that terrible migraine. Did it ever occur to you that cleaning your house should be an easy chore? It’s not very backbreaking work. Ok, I’ll give you the fact that you’ve been moving all day but surely you shouldn’t feel like crawling in a hole for the next few days to recover.

Here’s a notion, it’s not the effort of cleaning that’s got you down, it’s the cleaning products that you are using. It’s amazing that we spend so much time to make our homes a safer more sanitary place in which to live, but never ponder the fact that most everyday chemical products we use are far more harmful to us than a few germs and dirt. Imagine over the long term just what these harsh chemicals might be causing perhaps the destruction of our immune system? The breakdown of our body’s defenses causing it to attack itself. Consider that all these chemical products just might be causing your ITP and low platelet count.

Did you know that almost all of the every day consumer products that we use, are filled with toxic chemicals far more dangerous than stated on the labels? And that because of labeling laws the manufacturer doesn’t even have to state to you of half of what’s in there. Also that only 20% of all the products that we so willing use have actually been tested for dangers. We are being fooled by big corporations without proper protection from the government.

Crest Whitestrips

January 5th, 2008 admin

Crest Whitestrips have changed the way that people whiten their teeth. Before the introduction of this product, most of us depended on the old fashioned approaches to getting a whiter, brighter smile. Some of these tactics were less than perfect and others cost a lot of money.

I used to pay quite a bit of cash to get my teeth professionally whitened. Now I just use Crest Whitestrips once a year instead. Some may think that the kit is a little pricy but I have no idea where you can get better results for less money. In fact, my teeth whitening trips to the dentist cost well over a hundred bucks.

Why Starvation Diets Don’t Work

November 27th, 2007 admin

Gullible people have a simplistic view of starvation diets. Since eating made them fat in the first place, they believe that starvation would result in shedding that fat. Since they cannot go into complete starvation, they choose a starvation diet comprising perhaps a cup of coffee (preferably, without milk or sugar) for breakfast, a carrot and celery for lunch and a piece of brown bread for dinner. Maybe in the first week they may lose some weight but by the end of the second week, the loss tapers off.

Most starvation diets fail after the initial period. Moreover, they are not safe at all. They harm the systems of the body in untold ways. Besides, they do not serve their basic purpose, which is losing weight. Just by skipping meals and eating junk food, you cannot lose weight. While you are on a starvation diet, instead of burning all the excess fat and calories stored in your body, your metabolism actually slows down to conserve the calories in the body. Some studies state that during the time of a starvation diet as much as 30% of the stored fat is burnt less than that burnt during times of normal diet. This translates into the fact that starvation diets do not work for long-term weight loss plans.

Diarrhea, the Symptoms of Irritable Bowel

October 22nd, 2007 admin

There are a number of symptoms that characterize Irritable Bowel Movement. Most patients display mild symptoms while some have more serious forms. The good thing though with irritable bowel movement is that while it may vary from mild to severe, it would not advance to more serious intestinal diseases such as colitis or cancer. This is due to the absence of inflammation in the intestinal muscles and a number of other aggravating conditions.

Symptoms vary from intensity to frequency. However, among the most prominent symptoms that occur in nearly all cases is diarrhea and constipation or an alternation between the two.

Constipation is either characterized with loose and watery stool. However, it may also be that the stool is too compacted which prevents the release from the anus.

Meanwhile, diarrhea is the condition of increased frequency in bowel movement. It is also marked with incontinence of stool which is similar to inability to control or delay bowel movement. There are also sudden strong urges for bowel movement which if not immediately addressed will result to incontinence. Incomplete evacuation is also felt wherein the person feels the need for a second bowel movement immediately after the first one. The succeeding ones though will be more difficult to expel.

Treatment for reversible organic lesions such as tumors or drug related dementias may be reversible to some extent but not completely. Eliminating Processed Foods

Many processed foods are produced through procedures involving overcooking under high heat, undermining their nutritional value in the process.
